Lonestar Angel, is the story of a family torn apart by tragedy and the sinister evil that threatens them still.

Eden Lasrson has done her best to move on with her life in the five years since her daughter was killed in a kidnapping attempt gone wrong. Just when she thinks things are about to become normal again, her ex-husband shows up. To Eden’s utter shock, this ex-husband of hers is not an “ex” after all. It seems he never signed the divorce papers, and that’s not the only stunning news he brings.

Clay Larson never believed his daughter died in the accident that killed her captor. In fact, Clay never believed the man that died acted alone. After following every lead over the last several years, he finally receives a clue. A picture of five young girls all the age his daughter would be, with a cryptic note taunting him to come find out which one is his. Having known all along she was alive––and never having stopped loving Eden––he asks Eden to help him discover which of the children is theirs… and if their family has any chance of reconciliation.

Bluebird is a ranch in Texas that helps young children from disadvantaged homes and abusive pasts heal their wounded souls through animal therapy. Clay and Eden apply for a married couple counseling position working with and chaperoning the girls. But Clay and Eden are not the only ones after something they once lost, and soon it becomes very clear that Eden’s life is in danger.

As Clay and Eden draw closer and closer to both the girls and each other, Eden’s life is increasingly threatened. When DNA evidence is secretly collected from each of the girls and they are on the cusp of finding out which of the cherished children is theirs, a frightening twist of events will leave them in a fight for their lives.

A quick paced romantic suspense novel, Lonestar Angel was at the very least entertaining. I am a big fan of Colleen Coble so I was very surprised at some of the leaps in logic and often hokey dialog. I literally laughed out loud at some of the “romantic heart-to-heart” talks the two main characters had. I have never read a harlequin romance, so maybe that’s how its done, but I caught myself rolling my eyes at several sections in the book. All, that being said, I am still a huge fan and the book was still fun to read and touching as always.
